FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- PHOTO RESTORATION
#1: I want you to work on a photo. What should I do?
You should fill out an order form on this site, print it and send it along with your photo to the address at the bottom of the order form. Please
remember to sign and date the order form once you have printed it to show that you have read and understood the terms and conditions. You should make sure that you use a strong envelope to post your photographs and that you have the correct postage on it. It is also advisable to write a return address on the envelope. If your photo is digital, you can send it via email as well. Once we receive your photo(s) we will send a quote to you by e-mail.
#2: What kind of photo can I send in?
You can send in anything you like, and can request any modifications you like. All we ask is that you are the owner of the photograph and/or you have the permission of the owner and persons in the photo itself.
#3: Do you accept digital photos?
Yes, you can send photos on a CD or as an attachment via e-mail. If you're scanning your own photos then you should scan them at 400dpi. If you have a physical copy of the photo, then you could send it as we prefer to have a physical photo to look at when we are working on a photograph.
#4: How much will it cost?
We don't have a fixed price list. No photo is the same, and so no job is the same - we don't want you to pay a penny more than you have to.
It would be difficult to answer because it all depends on the complexity of the work to be done and the size of the photo. The actual cost can be provided after evaluting the quantum of work on receipt of your photograph(s). The cost will be conveyed to you before we start the work.
#5: Do you have special rates for volume / regular assignments?
Yes we offer a substantial discount for these kinds of assignments, because there is mutual benefit in doing so.
#6: Do you negotiate on rates you have quoted?
Our prices are much lower than most, however you are always welcome to suggest your price or mention your reservation / limitation.
#7: My photograph is very badly damaged and I'm not sure if it can be restored. What should I do?
It is difficult to tell before we see the photograph(s). You can e-mail your photograph(s) to us so that we can have a look at it. If it is acceptable we can salvage it by giving it a try and making some improvements.
#8: I have a photo that I would like to be edited or restored, but I do not live in India. Can I still send it?
We accept Orders from all over the world. There will be a small extra fee for extra cost incurred for outside India orders, such as postage, exchange charges etc. Please e-mail us for more information if you intend to send a photograph from outside India.
#9: How do I make payments?
Payments can be made in US Dollars or in any other currency by mailing a cheque to us or by wire transfer to our bankers.
#10: How do you restore my photo?
We scan your photo to make a digital copy of it and then use a photo editing software to carry out the changes on a computer. For restorations we use a complex painting tool to edit the pixels that make up the image and also make alterations to contrast, brightness and colour as necessary. The finished photograph is printed using a high quality inkjet printer on specially coated photographic paper so your prints will last for many years to come.
#11: Is there any risk to my original photo?
There is no risk of the photograph being damaged during the editing process since the work is not carried out on the original photo. The original photograph is not altered at all and is returned to you completely unchanged. We take great care of your photo(s) when it is in our care as we realise that they can be of great sentimental value. In the highly unlikely event of your photo being accidentally damaged we will do our best to restore it, but such an accident has never happened.
#12: Does photo editing require special human skills or does the software do it all?
Photo editing is quite like editing a picture on canvas manually. The difference being that you have great flexibility in the types of tools available, quick correction of mistakes, the facility to make a composite of two or more images and the ability to add special effects. The apparently automated tasks are seldom just single click operations. Most of the advanced work is done by using digital tools which are sophisticated clones of conventional paint tools.
#13: Aren't there any sites on the web which where I can carry out edits ourselves?
Yes, but only to correct basic things like brightness and contrast which you can do on your local machine, with freeware downloaded from the web.
#14: Why should you edit my pictures, can't I do it myself?
Sure, anyone can learn photo editing. It requires the right software, a few months to learn all about it with a fair amount of patience and time. If you have the inclination and the time, go for it...
#15: What kind of turnaround time (TAT) can be expected? How long will it take to get my photos back?
The turnaround time (TAT) depends totally on the project
as well as the output required. We can also work on short
deadlines if required.
On receipt of your photo(s) we send you the quote/cost along
with the estimated time required for the completion of the
job by e-mail. Only on receiving the payment we start our
work. It depends on the quantity of the work as well. Usually
you will receive the photos in 7-10 days from the date of
receipt your payment.
#16: What if my photo doesn’t show the result that I’d like?
